Alcohol is not gonna touch that house of pain. They built it at the expense of millions of bad days, weeks and years for so many Americans and our allies and friends around the world. Let them live in it. The bar is closed -  and a mile above the McCain campaign.

Re: Obama is BIG NOISE. DAMN RIGHT..... (2.00 / 4)

The wingnuts are choking on their bile. McCain's whining today was pathetic and stunk of sour grapes. And Obama's parrying of McCains outrageoud slur was brilliant and made McCain look look VERY small. A good friend of mine whose a die hard Republican said to me today, McCain's done he's never going to be president against this guy.

Re: Obama is BIG NOISE. DAMN RIGHT..... (2.00 / 4)

Buddy of mine called from work today after the speech.  He had just finished watching with some of his Republican co-workers.  Consensus among them?

"McCain is toast.  He can't hold a candle to this guy".

Damned right. (none / 0)

"Given the myriad challenges that will face the next president, Barack would encourage Sen. McCain to begin to undertake a similar process."

But McSame probably doesn't need as much preparation time considering his regime would be a holdover of Bush's.

Right.  McCain will retain a large part of Bush's staff - already Karl Rove and Andrew Card are advising him.

That explains a part of his horrible campaign to date.

Rove is a one trick pony who's pulled it too many times.

Re: Obama is BIG NOISE. DAMN RIGHT..... (2.00 / 2)

I work with a very fiscally conservative Republican who has been desperate to justify that the economic situation in this country is good based on McCain's policies. I reminded him that he might have meant to say Bush. I think he was about to cry. He said it's really over already isn't it. It took a considerable amount of effort but I said in as dispassionate way as possible that I thought that it's really just starting to look like a very positive beginning for both of us and a whole nation. It may take him a while, but I think he might be able to see moving forward together for a better future is something he doesn't have to fight against.

Yes, that's what I think we're dealing with here. People just have to get used to the idea of this incredibly graceful, articulate but very normal black guy as president. Some of these pictures are superb. But Obama is the Tiger Woods of politics for godsake. I'm wondering whether Powell who I consider a total man of straw but for some reason has a lot of cred still, will endorse him? Not beyond the bounds of possibility I'd say.

I have some sympathy for Powell.  He's not the first person to be put in a position where everyone around him was an absolute madman, and given the Hobson's choice of staying on the team and trying to keep it from driving off a cliff or resigning and losing all influence completely.

Re: Obama is BIG NOISE. DAMN RIGHT..... (none / 0)

I get it. But are you defending a political calculation or a soldier's loyalty to his country. I wouldn't expect Powell to do other than what he did. But any soldier will suffer the consequences of such a move. Look at what was done to Wes Clark for telling the House and Senate in 1998 that invading Iraq was a really stupid idea. A writing toll at the New York Times named Adam Nagourney turned it into support for the IWR. and the Democratic pack pounced on him. But noting will save McCain from his bitter whimpering tour this week, I would actually be embarrassed if McCain was elected President, and scared about his ability to actually function. I don't mean that with disrespect for the man's age, only a real world understanding that ssome times the American people have to say no, Thank You.

Has anyone noticed the SEA of American flags during the speech in Berlin? When was the last time we saw that in ANY foreign country? Other than when our flag was being burned, that is.
